SPA Birthday Party: Activities, Games and FUN

My daughter has been planning her 8th birthday party since the day after she turned 7! She loves her birthday, more than any other holiday. Which is so great for her- but alot of pressure for me! I knew her 8th birthday needed to be packed full of activities for her and her friends so I am glad she picked SPA! What a fun party to plan for a bunch of second grade girls. We decided on a 2.5hr party because there was just too much fun to be had!

For invitations I made DIY nail polish bottles invitations- which also served as the decoration theme throughout the house. These little invites were super easy to make- cut out the black shaped bottle- then add a nail color (aka construction paper) on top. I chose to write out the party info since we only invited 8 friends.

When her friends arrived they could partake in the chocolate fountain (I really did have one sitting in my basement but if you don’t, this is the one I have) and some sparkling juice while they waited for all the guests to arrive. Once everyone was here and oh so giddy- we got started! Each girl received a makeup bag which served as their goodie bag- so they could put all the goodies they received throughout the party inside!

First activity was making a lemon sugar scrub. We wanted the girls’ hands to be super soft for their manicures! It was a very easy and inexpensive recipe and I even made my own batch later because it was so soft and works! For the recipe: Add 1 cup sugar, juice and zest of 1 lemon, 15-20 drops of essential oil, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Then mix it really well! Every girl received a small container to keep their scrub so they could take it home. As a fun look- we put a sticker on top of each and wrote Sugar Scrub in fancy letters. After everyone’s hands were nice and soft we used these nail files to round out the nails.

Then we painted nails. I ordered this great nail polish set that came in super fun colors to use. (and it was quick dry) The girls could paint their own nails- or I did it for them. I even showed them how to make flowers with a toothpick (any other 90s kids out there?) Adding nail stickers is also a fun element!

After our nails- we of course had to do our toes. But to make it fun we did musical paint your toes! The girls all received toe dividers to use and then I passed out a random color to each girl. I simply played some music and when it stopped they painted one toenail the color they had in their hand. Then I started the music up again. The girls sure were laughing if they ended up with one of the less favorite colors.

A SPA party is not complete without eye masks and face masks- but instead of just handing out some cute eye masks to wear – I ordered these so the girls could decorate their own eye mask any way they wanted. Then for face masks I grabbed some from the dollar stores but wish I would have seen these cute ones! To keep hair out of faces the girls all had a stylish spa headband to wear. Oh and cucumbers for the eyes! When I said we did ALOT I meant it! I had them lie down and played some soothing music while I placed cucumbers on their eyes. (some girls really said EW!).

Lastly, we had a quick yoga session and massages! I am definitely not a yoga teacher- but I do enjoy the occasional yoga youtube from time to time. I knew how to show the girls some downward dog and savasana and they loved it. It felt good!

For the finale I had the girls sit in a circle and do a massage train. After awhile they turned around and switched directions. A nice way to relax for such a busy FUN party. Its great to be eight! And having a SPA party was a fun way to celebrate!

Decorations: DIY is always super fun but these and these also are fun!

Endnote: the goodie bag was the makeup bag and it got filled up with the sugar scrub, eye mask, nail file, headband, and toe separators!
