When my little girl decided she wanted a Rainbow themed party I was all over it! I started planning everything and then she said she wanted Frozen! Luckily I persuaded her back to a Rainbow theme because it turned out so colorful and fun! I think this cute rainbow dress helped persuade her 🙂
We invited her preschool class (about 10 kids + siblings!) and parents stayed as well because there is no way I can handle that many 3/4 year olds! For invitations my daughter helped me paint paper plates in the order of the rainbow. I then cut plates in half and printed out the party info, cut it out in the shape of a cloud and stapled it to the paper plate. They turned out great- and the best part was that my daughter helped make them!

Now it really doesn’t matter what you plan for a little kid party because all they will want to do is play with all of the toys they don’t have at their own house. However, I planned a few activities/games to keep it moving along.
When guests arrived they could choose to have their face painted by my husband! Now- youre thinking well theres no way I know how to paint faces”- but it doesnt matter! They are young enough- they dont care what it looks like- and mostly likely it will get smeared during the party at some point. We purchased this set and it came with stencils! So another reason to try it out- use the stencils and it will be great!
Of course there was a pinata and pin the cloud on the rainbow. My daughter’s birthday was after Easter so I didnt want to fill the pinata full of candy since she just had a bunch. Instead I chose to buy a toy goodie bag fill off Amazon and just put a little bit of candy in. Well surprise to me- the kids dove in for all the candy first! There were toys still on the ground and no one wanted them! Kids just love their candy! But the parents appreciated the toys!

I also had a craft table setup with optional activities. The table included make your own rainbow. I tore up pieces of colored construction paper (in the colors of the rainbow) and then I took paper plated cut in half so they could glue the pieces of paper on the plate in the shape of rainbow. I also had make your own rainbow bracelets. I put out a bowl of rainbow pony beads and a pipe cleaner so they could put on a bead in each color and simply twist the pipe cleaner closed. Lastly there was make your own rainbow froot loop necklace. Similiar to the pony bead activity- this one is a snacktivity. I had some strings precut then a bowl of froot loops out for them to make their own rainbow necklace. Protip: place tape around the end of the string for easy threading.
Another game was a rainbow scavenger hunt! I cut out arch shapes of the rainbow and taped up the pieces throughout the house. I handed each child a red arch to get started then they had to find the next color (orange) and glue it on- then they found the next color (yellow) and then glued that on and then the next, etc. It was a fun one!

Decorations and food are just as important- especially when you have parents staying! Crepe paper in the color of the rainbow throughout the house goes along way! but so do decorations and table settings you don’t have to DIY!

I also added a giant crepe paper rainbow on the wall! and had rainbow fruit and veggie trays. Dont forget some bowls of white popcorn or puffs for the clouds!

Decorating the outside is just as fun- so everyone knows it’s the party house! Lucky for me we had just purchased a new toilet so I used the box to paint a giant rainbow on it to hang up outside.

and LASTLY! Lets not forget the treat bags! I purchased a miniature easel and paint palette set so each child could paint their own rainbow when they got home. I had so many compliments on this treat bag! and on the party! I know my little girl LOVED it and I think she was very happy we had a rainbow theme!
