Planning a Halloween party for a mix of young kids can be so much fun! With their boundless energy and love for all things spooky (but not too scary), it’s the perfect opportunity to get creative with games and activities that are age-appropriate, engaging, and full of festive flair. Here’s how to host a Halloween party your little ghosts and goblins will talk about all year long.
Halloween Party Games and Activities
1. Monster Freeze Dance
Put on a playlist of Halloween hits like Monster Mash or Thriller and let the kids dance their hearts out—until the music stops! When it does, they must freeze in their spookiest monster pose. Anyone caught moving has to do a silly “monster challenge,” like a howl or a zombie walk. Snag these monster masks to make it even more fun!

2. Pumpkin Bowling
Set up “pins” made from empty soda bottles decorated as ghosts or mummies (wrap them in toilet paper!). Then use a small pumpkin as the bowling ball and let the kids take turns rolling it to knock down the pins. Or take the easy way out and get these zombie bowling pins!
3. Witch Hat Ring Toss
Grab a witch hat (or make one from construction paper) and set it on the floor. Use glow-in-the-dark bracelets as rings for a fun, glowing twist on the classic ring toss game. These inflatable witch hats also work great!
4. Walk the Web
For this game I taped out a spider web and tossed some spider rings on the ground. Each child had to hop on one foot and collect as many spiders as they could in 30seconds.

5. Halloween Scavenger Hunt
Hide small Halloween-themed items like plastic spiders, mini pumpkins, or candy around your yard or house. Give the kids a checklist and let them search for all the spooky treasures.
6. Pumpkin Walk
Cake walk put with pumpkins! Play the music and when it stops- draw a number. Whoever is on that number, wins a prize! I had pumpkin placemats that I taped a number onto and they walked around on that.

7. Pumpkin Decorating
Instead of carving, which can be tricky for younger kids, opt for no-carve decorating. Provide mini pumpkins, stickers, markers, and glue-on googly eyes for a mess-free activity.
8. Zombie Race
Imagine a three-legged race but with a twist! Split the kids into groups and each one has a different zombie trait. Either blindfolded, legs tied together, or hands tied behind back! Then race and see which set of zombies wins!

9. Ghostly Glow Stick Tag
As the party winds down, head outside for a game of tag with a twist. Give one child a glow stick and let them be the “ghost” who tags others. Whoever is tagged becomes the next ghost!
10. Pin the Spider on the Web
A twist on the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey- what kid doesnt love this game? Make a web on the wall and have them pin spiders while blindfolded! Or use this for easy setup!
Make sure all the games and activities have prizes! I bought a box of bulk halloween party favors to pass out.
With games, activities, and snacks tailored for ages 5, 7, and 9, your Halloween party is sure to be a hit. Just don’t be surprised when your little guests start asking if they can come back next year!
