30 Spooktacular Halloween Games for Kids (and Adults!)

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year to plan a party. There’s something about pumpkins, costumes, and just the right amount of spooky fun that makes it extra magical. If you’re planning a Halloween bash for your kids or even a family-friendly get-together, you’ll want games that are festive and fun. Here are some of my favorite Halloween party games that always bring big laughs.

1. Mummy Wrap Race

Divide into teams of two or three and see who can wrap their teammate up like a mummy the fastest. Bonus points if the mummy can walk across the room without unraveling.

2. Pumpkin Bowling

Line up empty plastic bottles as pins and use a small pumpkin as the bowling ball. Each player gets two rolls to knock down as many as possible. The wobbling pumpkin makes this extra silly.

3. Witch Hat Ring Toss

Set up a cone-shaped witch hat and use glow stick rings or homemade rings to see who can land them on the hat. It’s even more fun if you play in the dark.

4. Pin the Spider on the Web

This one is just like the classic donkey game, but spookier. Blindfolded players try to stick their spider as close to the web’s center as possible.

5. Monster Freeze Dance

Turn on a Halloween playlist and let the kids dance their spooky little hearts out. When the music stops, they must freeze like statues. Anyone who moves is out.

6. Candy Corn Guessing Game

Fill a jar with candy corn and let guests guess how many pieces are inside. The closest guess wins the jar.

7. Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt

Hide glow sticks, small pumpkins, or plastic spiders around the house or yard. Give kids a bag or basket and let them hunt for spooky treasures.

8. Spider Races

Give each child a plastic spider and a straw. Players use the straw to blow their spider across the finish line. First one there wins.

9. Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe

Draw a large tic-tac-toe grid on cardboard or a chalkboard. Use mini pumpkins and gourds as the Xs and Os.

10. Cauldron Toss

Set up plastic cauldrons or buckets at different distances. Kids take turns tossing bean bags or small balls into them for points.

11. Haunted Musical Chairs

Play musical chairs with spooky music. Each time the music stops, kids scramble for a seat. Remove a chair each round until only one is left.

12. Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Set out paints, stickers, and markers and let kids decorate their pumpkins. Everyone gets to show off their creative side, and you can hand out small prizes for the silliest, spookiest, or most colorful design.

13. Ghostly Limbo

Use a broomstick decorated with ghost streamers for a spooky limbo game. Play Halloween music as kids bend and shimmy under the stick.

14. Eyeball Spoon Race

Swap out traditional eggs for plastic eyeballs or ping pong balls with spooky eyes drawn on them. Kids race while balancing their eyeball on a spoon.

15. Pin the Hat on the Witch

Like pin the tail on the donkey, but with a witch’s hat. Blindfolded players try to get the hat as close to her head as possible.

16. Pumpkin Spoon Balance

Kids try to balance a mini pumpkin on a spoon and race across the room without dropping it.

17. Ghost Balloon Pop

Blow up white balloons and draw ghost faces on them. Kids must sit on the balloons to pop them and reveal hidden treats or small prizes inside.

18. Zombie Tag

One player is the zombie. When they tag someone, that player becomes a zombie too. The game continues until everyone has been turned.

19. Haunted Obstacle Course

Set up an obstacle course with broomsticks, pumpkins, tunnels, and fake spiderwebs. Time each child to see who can complete it the fastest.

20. Trick-or-Treat Relay

Players run back and forth with a candy bucket, collecting treats along the way. First team to fill their bucket wins.

21. Pumpkin Pinata Smash

Hang a pumpkin-shaped pinata filled with candy or small toys. Blindfold kids and let them take turns trying to break it open.

22. Potion Making Station

Set up a table with jars of colored water, glitter, and spooky add-ins like gummy worms. Kids can mix their own “potions” in plastic bottles.

23. Creepy Feel Box

Fill shoeboxes with peeled grapes (eyeballs), spaghetti (brains), and slime (monster goo). Let kids stick their hands in and guess what they’re touching.

24. Shadow Charades

Shine a flashlight on a blank wall and let kids act out Halloween-themed charades, creating spooky shadows as they play.

25. Costume Catwalk

Host a mini runway where each child shows off their costume. Add fun categories like “scariest,” “silliest,” or “most creative.”

26. Haunted Story Circle

Sit in a circle and tell a spooky (but kid-friendly) story. Pass a flashlight around so each child can add a line to the tale.

27. Jack-o-Lantern Bean Bag Toss

Cut holes in a large cardboard pumpkin face and let kids toss bean bags through the mouth and eyes for points.

28. Skeleton Puzzle Race

Print a skeleton puzzle, cut out the pieces, and race to see who can assemble their skeleton the fastest.

29. Ghost Hunt with Flashlights

Hide paper ghosts around a dark room or yard. Kids use flashlights to find and collect them.

30. Witch’s Brew Relay

Teams race to fill a cauldron with colored water using only spoons or cups. The first team to fill their cauldron wins.

Halloween parties don’t have to be complicated. The best ones are filled with laughter, candy, and a little spooky fun. Mix in some active games and quieter activities, and you’ll keep kids entertained all night long. Which of these games would your family love most?
